DAAD Rosa Luxemburg Foundation Research PhD Scholarship 2025-26
This is a special type of DAAD scholarship offered by the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation in Germany. Who is this scholarship for?
It is especially for international PhD students who:
· Are very good academics: Those who have an excellent academic record (very good grades at university, etc.).
· Any field (except medicine): You are doing a PhD in any subject, just not in the medical field.
· Your PhD topic should be good: That is, the research you are doing is interesting and important.
· Believe in and work for: That is, those who believe in social justice, equality for all, human rights and democracy and do something practically for it.
Duration of the Scholarship Program
If the PhD is being done at a German university the scholarship will be available for a maximum of 3 years. If necessary, an extension of up to 6 months can be applied for. If the PhD is being done in another country and you are coming to Germany only for research your research stay in Germany (the length of time you will come to Germany) can be a maximum of 3 years, depending on your research needs.

Benefits of DAAD Rosa Luxemburg Scholarship 2025-2026
· Monthly Grant: PhD students will receive 1,400 euros (EUR) per month.
· Mobility Allowance: In addition, you will receive an additional 100 euros per month to cover your travel and mobility expenses.
· Lump Sum: You will also receive an additional 20 euros.
Eligibility Requirements for DAAD Rosa Luxemburg Scholarship
· University admission: You must have been admitted to a public or recognized university in Germany or another country (for a PhD).
· Supervisor in Germany: A professor at a German university is willing to supervise your research.
· Excellent Master's degree: Your Master's degree grades should be very good.
· Involvement in social work: You have actively participated in social work in accordance with the ideals of the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation (social justice, etc.) (Proof of this must be provided).
· German language skills: You must have at least a B2 level of German (officially certified).
· Not having spent a long time in Germany: You must not have spent more than 15 months in Germany at the time of application, unless you have already come to Germany for a PhD or research or are preparing for one.
Academic Requirements for Rosa Luxemburg Scholarships
· Acceptance from a German university: You must have been admitted to a PhD at any public or recognized university in Germany or have proof that you have been accepted.
· Supervisor in Germany: You must have a university professor in Germany willing to supervise your PhD research.

Application Deadline
The deadline for this scholarship is 1 October every year. So for 2025 the deadline will be 1 October 2025.
