3. Who Can Apply? (Eligibility Requirements)

There are specific requirements for the Rhodes Scholarship, which may vary slightly from country to country. The general requirements are:

Nationality:

You must be a citizen of a country that is eligible for a Rhodes Scholarship.

Age:

  • If you have recently completed your bachelor's degree: You must be between 18 and 23 years old on 1 October 2025 (i.e. you were born after 1 October 2001 and before 2 October 2007).
  • If you have been a latecomer to your degree: You must be under 27 years old on 1 October 2025 (i.e. you were born after 1 October 1998) and you must have completed your bachelor's degree on or after 1 October 2024.

Academic Record:

You must have very good grades in your bachelor's degree. Your grades should be good enough to be admitted to Oxford University. Typically, successful candidates have grades of first class or equivalent (i.e. a GPA of 3.70 or higher out of 4.0).

English Language:

You must meet the University of Oxford’s English language requirement (such as a good score in IELTS or TOEFL).

4. How to Apply

Applying for a Rhodes Scholarship is a comprehensive process:

Check Eligibility:

First, visit the Rhodes Trust website to see if you are eligible for.

Choose an Oxford Course:

Visit the University of Oxford website to find the Masters or PhD course you want to study for which this scholarship is offered. Also, check the entry requirements for that course.

Prepare Documents:

  • Your valid passport or CNIC.
  • Certified copies of all your academic credentials (Matriculation, HSSC/A-Level and Bachelor’s marks).
  • CV (your biodata): A maximum of two pages of CV, including your studies, awards, any special work, leadership positions, work experience, and other activities.
  • Personal Statement: An essay of up to 1000 words explaining why you want to apply for this scholarship and how you meet all the requirements of the Rhodes.
  • Academic Statement: A short essay of 350 words explaining your academic interests and what you hope to study at Oxford.
  • Letters of Recommendation: You will need to obtain four letters of recommendation from people to be submitted online:

  • A passport-sized colour photograph.
