Regeneron Science Talent Search (STS) 2026
Regeneron Science Talent Search (STS) is a very large and very special competition that is held for high school students in the United States. Its goal is to find young people who have great potential in science, mathematics or engineering and can become great scientists in the future. It is called the most prestigious science competition in the United States.

What this Competition Actually is?
· Name: Regeneron Science Talent Search (formerly known as the Westinghouse Science Talent Search and then the Intel Science Talent Search).
· Who organizes it? The Society for Science, and its largest sponsor is Regeneron (a pharmaceutical company).
· Who is it for? Only high school students in the United States who are in their final year of high school (senior year).
· The main requirement: You have to complete an original, independent scientific research project. That is, not part of a team, but your own work.
What does it involve and what can you get?
1. Research Project
You conduct your own research project in any scientific field (such as science, math, engineering, health, computer science, etc.).
2. Application Submission
You submit an online application with details of your project and some personal information, essays, and recommendations from your teachers and mentors.
3. Prize
· About 1,900 students apply each year.
· The 300 best students are named “Scholars.” Each Scholar receives $2,000, and their school also receives $2,000.
· Of these 300 Scholars, 40 are selected as “Finalists.” They are invited to Washington, D.C., where they present their projects and are interviewed by a panel of judges.
· The top 10 winners are selected from among these 40 finalists.
· The first place winner gets a $250,000 prize!
· The second, third, and remaining top 10 winners also get huge amounts of money (e.g. $175,000, $150,000, $100,000, etc.).
· The remaining 30 finalists get at least $25,000.

Who is this for? (Regeneron (STS) Eligibility 2026)
· Senior year of high school
You must be in your final year of high school (12th grade / senior year).
· US residency
This contest is primarily for students residing in the US who are attending high schools in the US.
· Age
Be over 13 years old and have parental consent if under 18.
· Original Research
Only individual research conducted by oneself is acceptable. Teamwork is not involved.
